The Hippocritical World

Here’s how a hippocrite, hypocrite or hippogriff would look like in the other side of the town.

For sure I have been a hypocrite in my life. Not entirely perfect.

The hippogriff, or sometimes hippogryph is a legendary creature which has the front half of an eagle and the hind half of a horse. The first recorded mention of the hippogriff was made by the Latin poet Virgil in his Eclogues.

A hypocrite, from a fellow hypocrite is by Merriam-Webster’ definition, “a person who claims or pretends to have certain beliefs about what is right but who behaves in a way that disagrees with those beliefs”.

We live in an enclosed environment – the planet Earth. We compete with each other, we fight with each other and we tend to see the bad things on bigger scale than all the good ones combined.

There are a lot of caring people and concerned people in the world as I believe so. Still that does not mean that we are not hypocrites.

We were taught to hold a perspective when young and we developed our own perspectives as we grew up. Our glasses became tinted along the way though we felt we have not changed by much.

There is no background as to who the hypocrite can be – it can be a commoner, a monk or a priest or someone who had made it in life. We each believe we are right in our opinion. We profess our beliefs, we try to have listeners who can absolutely have to agree with us or damn those who don’t, which was part of the ingrained believes.

It would not be so strange to say that we, as an avatar of souls, are actors and actresses of our own dramas.

Greek hypokritḗs a stage actor, hence one who pretends to be what he is not.

Who are we?

Ps.

The word hypocrisy comes from the Greek ὑυπόκρισις (hypokrisis), which means “jealous”, “play-acting”, “acting out”, “coward” or “dissembling”. The word hypocrite is from the Greek word ὑποκριτής (hypokritēs), the agentive noun associated with υποκρίνομαι (hypokrinomai κρίση, “judgment” »κριτική (kritiki), “critics”) presumably because the performance of a dramatic text by an actor was to involve a degree of interpretation, or assessment.
